Daddys With Angels are delighted, and at the same time humbled to be shortlisted for Best Uk support organisation in the 2016 Butterfly Awards. In the simplest of terms we are a group of Angel dads who know the pain of child loss and seek to use their experience to bring some comfort to others who have experienced child loss. We are all volunteers and do not seek any kudos for what we do. The first closed Daddys with Angels group was set up,on facebook, in December 2010 by Paul Scully-Sloan following the loss of his son, Travers-James (T.J)

Paul found that there was a lack of suitable support for dads and male family members following the loss of a child. Today DWA retains it’s closed group for male family members and also also has a closed, family group for all family members. DWA has seen that some people are excluded from support because their loss was early gestation, or their child was too old, or it was too long ago, or some other nonsense. Daddys with Angels welcomes those regardless of the gestation or age and regardless of the cause or reason. Our ‘door’ is open to anyone who has experienced the pain of child loss. Please take a look at our video. Hear what we do and how we do it from one of our members in his interview and see what some of our group members have to say about DWA. We hope we are worthy of your vote.

What others have said:
I was very much alone and, to be honest, somewhat struggling with my own grief when DWA reached out to me. It became very much my sanctuary and even a lifeline. I was suddenly surrounded by parents, and even more importantly for me dads, who had suffered the same loss that I had. I was part of a family that understood which had been lacking for so long. Nothing seems to be too much for Paul and his team, often in the wee small hours one of the admins will be there to give advice, create a personal graphic or just to offer a friendly understanding ear.

This time two years ago I came across daddy’s with Angels when I got talking to Paul through a friend as I was finding it really difficult with life loss and living and loosing every thing I had due to me having psd. Personally disorder and having so many losses.. Paul was a real big help and a inspiration to me and many others after a few months of talking I was back on my feet and wanted to help and give back.. to help break the stigma of pregnancy and infant loss so I got talking with Paul and some Angel Parent admin and came up with a six town walk to help fundraise for DWA.. not long after I did a family fun day for them to help raise more funds as i would love to see the work Paul and all the team do a dwa to continue as everybody forgets about the dad and just asks if mums ok.. and dwa never forget a dad. Grandad. Uncle. Brother or any family member for that they have 121 support 24/7 they have so many dads they reach out to as its easier for a man to talk a man.. dwa deseve this award more then anyone there work is outstanding the dads they help and continue to help is priceless.. there is support for dads in the Angel Community with dwa they were and are the only group for angel/angels daddy’s and what they do helps others and breaks the silence around pregnancy and infant loss Paul and all the team really do deseve this well done to you all
Eve

Thank you for your kind words Debbie xx
Me and my husband Andrew were lost and struggling, but then there was DWA and our life changed for the better. I honestly don’t know were we would be without the support and compassion of the DWA family.
I’m glad you both found us, and thank you for your kind words!! xx
If it wasn’t for DWA I wouldn’t be here I locked up all my pain and never really shared my story Paul has helped me in many ways in ways that you wouldn’t imagine I struggled with my abuse from my childhood he got in contact with an officer in my area it’s an on going event , my son died from d George syndrome lived a month he helped me with it told me it was ok to cry when I’d been told it wasn’t told me that letting a rant out now and again was ok when I’d been a timid person I’m gradually moving on with my life still living with the grief but getting the help I need to go along with u can share anything in the group what ur feeling what uve been upto and even sharing a photo of ur Angel means so much such a wonderful understanding everyone has made friends through the group it’s 100 per cent perfect ❤️❤️
I’m pleased that you felt safe enough in our group to talk with us about what had happened to you. I know that the trial is soon and that this is a difficult time for you, but we are right beside you with this xx
DWA probably saved my life – providing the care and support that isn’t available in the community.
DWA are such an amazing group. They really do deserve this award. They work so hard on graphics for familys and surport us all even when they are struggling with loss of a child. I just would like to say.. Thank you to you all for everything you have done. You are all amazing. I really do hope you win the award you all deserve it so much. X
Good luck for such a esdevingut charity
My sons first daughter was stillborn. He was devastated as was his wife. Not to mention my husband and me. I still cry. They have since had two more adorable little girls to add to their family along with a big brother. I wish this heartache on no one.
DWS is unique in its philosophy to support all grieving parents, especially with the closed male group. The admins are all hard working and supportive angel dad’s and the support that I have seen them give to other Angel dad’s preventing them from doing serious things such as suicide is just amazing. I feel very blessed to be part of a brotherhood that although many people don’t know each other, they are there for each other through the whole journey that the grieving process takes and for everything that life throws at them. I want to thank Paul and his admin for what they do. This group has saved lives.
My beautiful daughter Millie was born sleeping last November. If I hadn’t stumbled across DWA I wouldn’t have had any support whatsoever. It’s a good job I did as I really don’t know where I’d be without this group.
I’d be lost without my brothers and sisters at DWA….The admin are unmatched!
Daddys with angels is a fantastic group that offers so much sympathy and support to other families who happen to have angel babies and give them advice on the emotions and worthlessness the parent feels because they have let thier child down but the havent they created a beautiful angel playing peacefully in gods garden until we need to call on them to give us strength to get through the darkness that follow the loss of a child and DWA also help us to talk to our Rainbow children about their angel brothers or sisters many thanks to Paul for setting this wonderful support group up
I have known Paul since our daughters went to the same nursery, at that time we were just acquaintances. I remember how beautiful and happy TJ was and I felt heart broken for Paul and his wife when they lost TJ but I didn’t know how to talk to them about their loss back then.
Not long after, I lost Poppy and both of them were there for me. Later I lost triplets and Paul followed us to the funeral in his car with my children.
Since then he’s supported me through further losses, attending the funerals and coming to their angelverseries and birthdays.
He’s supported me through relationship breakdowns and counselled me through historic child abuse and even when I had issues with social services myself.
He then supported me through my difficult pregnancy with my rainbow and visited after his birth, helping with my fears.
Paul doesn’t just support on issues related to our losses but will help with unrelated issues too. Daddys with angels is a second family, with the admin and other members too.
Unlike other Facebook groups, there is never drama or bringing others down, it is the safest group I’ve ever been on and never been scared to talk about anything.
Pauls mum even came to hospital appointments with me through a really difficult period in my life, after I asked paul to signpost me for help.
Paul is a top man, he raised me in care, such a sad loss to such a great man, I don’t have an angel but I do know what the person who runs it did for me
I’ve never lost a child before but when I did a total of 9 loses including a set of triplets, I’ve always found support from DWA. Paul is a very supportive man & will help no matter what. He’s always there or he knows where to send you. Thank you Paul for everything.
When I was looking for help guidance and support I stumbled upon this amazing group their personal hard work and dedication to helping families is HUGE. I have been able to connect with new friends and have a safe place to laugh cry and ask questions.
I lost my son February 2011 in them 5 years I had hardly no support and had to deal with the loss and my grief on my own. Days were hard and it was a challenge. But 2 years I got shown this group and it helped me on every step of my journey. Theyve been there through the good and the bad. In them 2 years I have came so far and they gave me the strength to get through my stormy days and continue to support. This is not a group it’s a family. A massive ThAnk you for what you do and continue to do
Dwa is without a shadow of doubt the most dedicated support group and most defeniately deserve this recognition for all they do for so many of us Infact they go above and beyond and nothing is ever effort for Paul and his team, you are instantly made to feel apart of the community and no one is ever judged, we’ve all shared the same sad path but once in the group you defeniately recognise that you are not alone! I have been in Paul’s group less than a year but opened up to everybody in it which I hadn’t done in 12 years, and that I thank them all for. Don’t hover over the vote button it deserves to be pressed! X
This group has helped me learn about the pain about losing our daughter… It’s a place that has brought and will continue to bring many people that have lost there love ones together so we all can work together and help guided each other. God bless this group and will do what ever I may to help keep this group around forever.
This a,azing organisatoon has been a godssend for my dear friend. It stretched it’s wings across the globe and held his heart together. It is truly deserving of all the accolades
Glad i found this group on Facebook they have been very helpful when I was in a very dark place only wish i found them sooner it was seven years after me and my wife gained an angel thanks Paul and everyone else who has helped me out of my dark place I know I still have a long way to go but this group makes it tolerable
