Providing help and healing after the death of a baby in Plymouth
My Plea:
Hello everyone
My name is Alan Catterall, some of you know me some of you may not. I have been nominated for a prestigious award known as the Butterfly Award, for going above and beyond my role as a
funeral director, towards a family I have been dealing with, Sue and Kevin who unfortunately lost there baby and as we all know it is a very emotional journey for all involved. It was an honour to allow them to be the last people to hold her as I facilitated them placing their daughter in the casket themselves. I work for a family run funeral directors Desmond L Bannon and Sons in Liverpool, I have been in the funeral business for 23 years and it is a so fulfilling role. As someone who has lost three babies I don’t think I could be in a better position.
I do quite a lot of charity events from marathons to half marathons, zip slides to abseils the most recent one was an abseil down the tallest building in Liverpool the Radio City Tower dressed as yes Spider-Man for cash for kids 450ft of utter madness.it is just in my nature to put other people first, so alls I ask for people to vote for me at this years Butterfly awards ceremony and thank you all in advance.

I nominated Alan for this award, simply because he truly deserves it. He has a heart of gold and true understanding what it feels like to lose a baby. We can’t thank him enough for his kindness, support and caring nature. Thank you Alan xxx
ive known alan & his dad most of my life. he has always gone out of the way to say hello & ask how things are.
especially last year when my girlfriend was diagnosed with breast cancer. thankfully after 7 months of treatment following surgery to remove the tumour. she was given the all clear at the end of may this year.
i know alan has had his own health issues. also that he has raised funds for charity in events.

I don’t know Alan personally but people in our community tell me he is a lovely person who always goes above and beyond his usual duties as a bereavement worker. I have spoken with him on the telephone and his words “how are you today?” are lovely. He made me feel special and that my call was very important. His charity work is well known in our city and he excels in that area as well. He is a generous person and I know if someone other than him wins the award Alan will be the first to congratulate them. The Butterfly Award could not go to a more deserving person than Alan.
This would be a fitting award for a very deserving man.
What a wonderful consulation to know that this man Will help you when you need his strength , compassion and knowledge.
