My Plea:

Friday 6th October 2017, my life was turned upside down!

Let me take you back….Saturday 4th, today my period was due and I knew from the minute I woke up that this wasn’t going to happen…I knew I was pregnant!
Knowing I was due my period that day I knew a pregnancy test would not show anything so I waited until Monday…there it was PREGNANT!!

It came to us as a massive shock to start with but we soon started to get exited about our future as a family. Jessica (our 6yr old) was so exited to be a big sister.

During my pregnancy we made lots of memories….

At 15 weeks and 1 day I abseiled 100ft down the side of Yeovil hospitality to raise money for the the maternity bereavement support.

We spent a week in Cyprus where Jessica learnt to swim and I realised how much I sun bathed on my front as it was impossible to do this at 17 weeks pregnant.

I booked a 4d scan for Father’s Day and we found out we were expecting a little girl!

At 28 weeks pregnant, we went to our local truck show were my amazing husband got 2nd prize for his truck! Truck shows are a massive part of our family and we so exited to bring our newest addition up in the truckers world.

On the 30th September at 34 weeks I had my baby shower…it was perfect…filled with an afternoon tea style food…with lots of yellow decorations, including lots of yellow roses….it was Belle themed from beauty and the beast!

Friday 6th October 2017….

Jessica was fast asleep on the sofa, we had a “girly sleepover” on the sofas Thursday night as we usual do at least once a week while Lees working away, Disney dvds and biscuits wrapped up in out duvets, perfect!
I woke up and went to the toilet as I do every morning but this time was different………
I lost an incredible amount of blood…
I panicked and called lee who was working away at the time, my mum came straight over and took me to the hospital,
Jessica and my mum waited in the waiting room while I was being scanned, “there’s her head” said the consultant “I’m sorry she has no heartbeat” those words will haunt me forever!!
Now to try and hold it together until Jessica gets picked up…
The next couple hours are a blur,
I had to have a platelet transfusion as my blood levels were very low,
The consultant managed to break my waters and within 2 hours my beautiful sleeping princess was born…all I waited for was that cry but there was just silence!
She was perfect being born at 34 weeks 6 days she came into the world at 4.30pm weighing 5lb 4.5oz

We spent 24 precious hours with Belle, we took lots of photos, got prints of her hand and feet and shed lots of tears!
Leaving Belle in the hospital and leaving with a box of precious memories was the hardest thing I have had to do!

People avoided me in the street, no one knew what to say, I felt people crossed the road when I walked towards them, they completely avoided the situation like she never existed!

As the weeks went on I looked around and realised I had to make a difference!

I wanted to be an inspiration, I wanted to not just remember my baby on her birthday or special dates I wanted to make a difference everyday! Why should our babies be such a taboo….

I have found that part of my grieving process is to try and raises as much money and awareness as I can…
I took part in the 100ft abseil at Yeovil hospital again raising money for the maternity bereavement support,
A group of lovely friends helped me make a giant yellow crocheted hat in memory of belle, where people could attach memory notes to,
I spent 12 hours in our local Tesco’s raising money for sands,
We had a team of 14 people pull a truck around a racing stadium to raise awareness and money,
I am also taking part in the 10 mile obstacle course tough mudders and Londons half marathon.

I plan on continuing to do as much as I can to keep Belles name and other babies gone too soon, alive and raise more awareness!

I am in the process of creating a charity called Single Yellow Rose and attending events as #TeamBelle to raise as much awareness and money as I can even if it stops it happening to one other family, I will feel like I have achieved helping someone.

What others have said:

“As the mother of a mother whose beautiful baby girl arrived nearly full term sleeping it’s been a hard and emotional few months. I’d like to nominate my amazing daughter Daisy Hutchings, words cannot describe how proud of her I am. I remember the phone call, a quick trip to the hospital to be checked out ……… the devasting news, no heartbeat. I cannot even comprehend what was going through Daisy’s mind, but she was so strong with the help of the wonderful staff at Yeovil hospital we met Belle, a true beauty, so small but so perfect. Each day sets a new challenge but every day Daisy moves forward whatever it brings.”
