My Plea:
Co-founder of charity Joel The Complete Package and very proud daddy to Noel and James who were born still in September 2011 and 2 beautiful rainbows, Sebastian and Polly. Since founding Joel with my wife Emma, in honour of all our children, we have supported families through pregnancy and parenting after the loss of a baby and have been very open in sharing our journey of life after loss. I am a huge advocate for men’s mental health and set up “Joel Dad’s” to promote positive wellbeing amongst men, don’t forget, dad’s feel too! I feel incredibly honoured to have been nominated for this award, thank you.

Matt’s twin boys, Noel and James were born still at 26 weeks in September 2011. 11 months later, Matt and wife Emma welcomed to the world their first rainbow, Sebastian and founded the charity JOEL the Complete Package to support others through pregnancy and parenting after loss. in 2014, they welcome their 2nd rainbow, Polly.
Over the last 6 years, Matt has worked tirelessly to support other families, promote a positive mental wellbeing and challenging taboos associated with baby loss and men’s mental health.
In late 2017, Matt set up a JOEL’Dad’s’ group, which meets bi-monthly and takes part in a wide range of physical activities, being outside and promoting hope and positivity for families in their journey of loss. A safe place to meet, chat to others and feel less isolated. The group has gone from strength to strength!
Matt is an amazing Dad to his children, he has a heart as big as the ocean and makes me proud every day. He continues to be an advocate for men’s mental health, empower others and celebrate his family as a whole.
Matt is not just a wonderful father and support to many parents, he was my mentor when I was teacher training and his advice, support and ear were invaluable to me. He is fiercely intelligent and compassionate, full of creativity and a great work ethic. But more than that- hes empathetic, witty, genuine and always goes above and beyond what’s expected of him!

Often the man gets lost and overlooked following the loss of a child and the focus seems to always be on the mother Matt has strived to change this way of thinking whilst supporting and loving one of the most courageous women I know – he 100% deserves this award – well done Matt !
