Ashlea is one of the most kind, caring and compassionate people we have ever come across, and we will be forever grateful that we met her – she is an absolute gem and the NHS are so very lucky to call her one of their own.
She’s more than ‘midwife of the year’, she’s our ‘gotcha back’ girl, she’s our supporter, she’s Elsie’s trustee, she’s our favourite dog walker… she’s our hero. We can honestly say we don’t know where we’d be right now without her guidance. We love her to the moon and back.
Absolutely the most compassionate, kind and thoughtful person I’ve ever met. To do a job like this day in and day out and be supportive of so many new mums and dads and see such sadness also and get them through it takes a very special person indeed and I am proud to know Julie and think she’s just amazing x.
Monica and Jo provide phenomenal care to women and work tirelessly to provide a caring and compassionate service. I am a student midwife working on placement at the trust and have been really proud to see midwives working at such a high standard and with such commitment for women at what is a extremely difficult time for them.
Not only was Melissa our bereavement midwife , she was a shoulder to cry on, a face to shout at, a mind to ask numerous questions to that were asked time and time again and were always answered, a fountain of information and a common ground for all other health professionals. We felt as a couple Melissa was the most crucial part of our care and still is. However Melissa is also a person, a beautiful, kind, compassionate person who is exceptional at her job and this is why she deserves to win this award.
Nick supported me through the loss of my twins in March 2018. I was distraught and confused and she helped us work out how we could say goodbye to our girls and build them into our lives for the future. Her kindness and openness with our loss made it easier and enabled us to speak about our babies. Nick then supported me through my next pregnancy and the birth of my rainbow baby. This support was invaluable, always there to check in with and understood the emotional rollercoaster my pregnancy was.
Not only does Tabitha look after us whilst in hospital – she is always on the end of the phone whenever we need her (even 5 months later!!). We just become part of her blossom family and the true love she has for us as parents and the way she cares for our babies is beyond human. The strength Tabitha has given me in – is something else, without her I honestly don’t think I would still be here today. She has a unique way of viewing situations and will always ensure you see the positive side of things even if the in the big black hole that is ‘baby loss’.
