Chris Gard and Connie Yates

“I’ve seen firsthand the injustice and unbearable heartache that Connie and Chris have been through and feel that what they have done following the passing of their son is the bravest, most selfless thing I have ever seen. It takes a truly inspirational couple to stand by one another through the hardest times, and to reach out to other parents and offer support in their time of need. Connie Yates and Chris Gard deserve to be recognised for the strength, dignity and selfless acts they have embraced after losing their son. Mitochondrial disease is no longer unheard of, and new treatments are already being explored.”

Grace Banham:

“Grace works tirelessly using the power of social media, particularly Instagram, to raise awareness about Group B Strep and Sepsis – which unfortunately took the life of her little girl, Violet. Grace has set up a petition to have Group B Strep routinely tested for during pregnancy, to try and reduce the deaths happening because of it. In addition to the petition, Grace has set up Voilet’s Wishes Fund.”

Michelle Channon

“The only thing I had to prove my baby’s existence was a pregnancy test and my heart had shattered! I went into depression and felt I couldn’t express my grief to anyone again so I spent many nights crying alone and just learnt to “accept” that my baby did not matter! Until recently, when I discovered Early Miscarriage Awareness Day. Thankyou for showing that my baby’s memory is important.”

Millie Cann:

“We would like to nominate The Skye High Foundation in relation to the purple butterfly, the symbol for a lost twin or multiple. We are twin parents but were suddenly only identified as parents to one baby. They had introduced the purple butterfly to place on the crib of the surviving twin, to ensure people knew they had twins and that one (or more) were lost from their family. The purple butterfly, allows your twins to go on and forever be remembered by all.”

Nicole Bowles:

“Nicole runs Our Missing Piece. A movement that wants to raise awareness of child loss and break the silence of it. She has put together a list of parents that blog on their loss so that others don’t feel so alone. She wants to push through Dad’s Voices so they too can be heard.”

Richard Boyd:

“The blog itself is filled with a balance of fantastic, passionate articles raising awareness of the movement to end preventable stillbirth as well as reflective, emotional pieces about his own experience which offer a great insight into a father’s perspective on grief. One particularly poignant post “A SHoebox Full Of Memories” captures just what it is to be a grieving parent – and the importance of that life in a little box.”

Stacie Goddard:

“Stacie has done so much since losing her beautiful baby boy Peter to raise awareness of babyloss. She has held events on babyloss awareness day posting postit notes with angel babies named on in prominent places in town.”
