Carrieanne McPherson:
“Carrieanne was kind, courteous and strong throughout the whole of the time we spent with her: She believed in me when I no longer believed in myself. Carrieanne was with us throughout the darkest, saddest and most difficult time in our whole lives and she made it that bit less hard. When my son was born at first I was afraid to hold him, she told me how beautiful he was and placed him on me. While I was sleeping she took little Oliver and made molds of his hands and feet so that we could cherish them forever. She truly was amazing throughout it all and I will never forget her. I hope to see her again in happier times.”
Jade Stolz:
“Jade was absolutely amazing the whole time I was in labour. She held my hand literally the whole time, she respected everything I asked for , she didn’t want to leave me – even to go for lunch!! When her shift was done she didn’t leave, she stayed until our baby girl was in the big wide world. Sadly her mother isn’t on earth anymore but I know she would be so extremely proud of her daughter.”
Keiley Tuck:
“My waters broke when I was 17 weeks pregnant with our ivf baby on 14th April 2016. I contracted sepsis. Our son Jude, was born on 20th April and lived for 7 precious minutes. Keiley supported me. We went through another round of ivf starting in October of the same year and fell pregnant again. This pregnancy was filled with anxiety for me and Keiley was always there to reassure me whenever I needed it. Keiley was working and was there for my whole c section, which was just amazing for me. I genuinely don’t know how I would have got though the last couple of years without her support and will be forever grateful for her support, care and compassion.”
Louise Bardon:
“Louise is amazing. She is one of the women who get me through this horrible path of babyloss. I can ring her any time on any day. Louise shows empathy and kindness in each conversation around baby loss and how I’m feeling. Louise is heartfelt and empathetic. In the loss of a baby she is a family’s ‘rock’. Louise ensures that particular provisions are in place for families. She ensures they receive appropriate care, they receive memory boxes, still birth certificates, books, information and beyond.”
Natalie Avery:
“I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive midwife. I gave her a teddy and a photo that I wanted to go with Belle forever and she took them and put them with her. She also contacted the funeral home for me as I was very undecided whether to go and see Belle – and I couldn’t bring myself to call them. She attended Belle’s funeral and was with me every step of the way for Belle’s post-mortem results. I really couldn’t have got through without her.”
Nick Kerry:
“My mum is a bereavement midwife at Scunthorpe and Grimsby and I want everyone to know how hard my mum works when she’s at home let alone what she does at work. She’s always buying balloons and bubbles for families and takes baby clothes somewhere then when she picks them up there are beautiful bears. She’s started rainbow clinics that are for mums who get pregnant again and has so many people who knit for her so she can give mums a gift. She told me “when you lose a baby it’s hard to be hopeful and prepare to be happy” so she’s got her work to buy nappies, baby grows and vests and the nannas knit hats and blankets all rainbow theme which I think is so kind”
Susan Brierley:
“Sue Brierley and her team of midwives were second to none when I lost my daughter Amelia. I return to the ward every year in her birthday and am greeted with hugs and support regardless of the fact we are 3 years down the line. Sue understands that time doesn’t heal the wounds left by loss and has been my crutch throughout the process. An unsung hero of the hospital and I cannot thank her enough for the work she continues to do for me and other grieving parents.”
Trudy Berlet:
“Our world fell apart and we were totally heartbroken and distressed at the thought of going through labour under such circumstances. Trudy helped and guided us through every stage of our tragedy, explaining carefully every process when we couldn’t think straight. Trudy helped us take treasured prints of Maggie’s hands and feet, she took snippets of hair and organised for a photographer to come in. Trudy took care of us over Christmas which was incredibly difficult for our family, and she has the amazing ability to predict when we need extra care and support and is with us through every important milestone.”
